A Note from Our Artistic Director
Dear Friends of the Santa Cruz Chorale:
Music enthusiasts who were lucky enough to attend the concerts of the Santa Cruz Chorale's 27th season will surely be looking forward to our 28th season. It is a joy for me to witness the ability of even such experienced singers to continue to hone their skills in musical phrasing, to fine-tune their intonation, and to increase their ability to respond to their conductor. I look forward to continuing to discover with the singers their, as yet, unknown musical potential, the better to do justice to the exquisite music we will be performing.
—Christian Grube
Christian Grube, the Chorale's Artistic Director, is Emeritus Professor of choral conducting at the Berlin University of Arts. His choirs are known for their superb sound, impeccable intonation, broad range of dynamic expression, and ability to interpret the most diverse styles. They have been praised for their rendition of motets, madrigals and masses of the Renaissance, and also for their performances of romantic and modern choral works. On one of the three tours of his Chamber Choir to the U.S., the reviewer of the Washington Post called the performance in Washington, D.C., "the best choral concert I have heard this year."
